CHAPTER 32
In the morning, weall met in the kitchen for a strong cup of coffee and a breakfast of eggs and toast. I was up before everyone since I wanted time to cook the customary mountain of food needed for three werewolves, one mage, and a hungry telekinetic teen. Rosalina was a dainty eater, so she wasn’t much of a concern, come to think of it, neither was Damien.
Rosalina was the first one to walk into the kitchen, which was a surprise since she normally liked sleeping late. Shuffling her feet, she went straight for the coffee and poured herself a tall cup.
“Good morning,” she mumbled.
I assessed her through narrowed eyes. “Busy night?” I asked, suggestively.
A twinkle appeared in her eyes and a smile on her lips.
I clasped my hands together. “Oh, my gosh, you two... did the ugly?”
Her smile deepened as she nodded.
As excited as a schoolgirl, I grabbed her hand and dragged her to the table, where we sat facing each other. “How was it?”
Her answer was a sigh and a dreamy look in her green eyes.
“That good, huh?”
She nodded.
“Did he... use magic?” I’d always been curious about this. Mages and witches could really make sex interesting with their powers.
“Mmm, maybe. I’m really not sure.” She blushed.
“Shit!” I blinked repeatedly, considering her answer. From the sounds of it, ithadfelt magical, but she couldn’t tell one way or the other if he’d used it. “Oh, he’s good!” I said. “You lucky girl.” I mock-punched her arm.
I was about to ask for more details when Lucia bounced in, looking freshly showered and perky.
“Yay, finally, someone’s up. Umm, coffee.” She lifted both arms and walked mummy-like toward the coffee machine.
When Leo, Dani, and I were Lucia’s age, Mom didn’t allow us to drink coffee at all, assuring us that it would stunt our growth. With her youngest, however, Mom seemed to forget all her convenient lies. She’d let Lucia start drinking caffeinated stuff at thirteen. No wonder Lucia was thoroughly addicted to it now, and not to mention an inch taller than me.
“Been up for a while?” Rosalina asked.
“’Bout an hour. Um, eggs. Lots of them.” She spooned eggs on one of the plates I’d set out then added two pieces of toast on top.
“You could have made breakfast, you know?” I said.
She scrunched up her face as if I’d suggested she could have drilled holes in her head. She sat and attacked her food right away. Rosalina cut a sharp glance in her direction then back at me.
