“Fine,Iwas wrong.”

“I asked him afterwards and he said he appreciated that I treated him like any other. We took our time, and he was able to see the displays by taking pictures on his phone.”

“How wonderful,” Anika swooned. “Are you seeing each other again?”

“Wednesday. I’m going to cook dinner.” She giggled lightly and set the phone down to pour herself a drink. “He mentioned he builds Legos so I guess we’ll be doing some of that too.”

“Super cute.”

“Please spare me the details of whatever comes after all of that,” Roy mumbled.

Anika softly punched him but grinned at Ruby. “We’ll have that call all by ourselves. But I think it’s rather late, isn’t it? So, you should get some rest.”

“I love you both.”

“We love you too, little sis.”

She was close to her brothers. Although they teased her relentlessly, she missed them to pieces. When Roy had announced his move to Germany, Ruby had bawled her eyes out.

She changed into her pyjamas and curled up in her bed, letting the night’s events review in her mind. How her heart had melted when he’d trusted her to guide him. The butterflies that swirled in her stomach even now when she thought about his melodic deep voice calling her darlin’. In a sense, she’d loved looking out for him and Blue, even if she did need some reassurance about it. It had been a perfect end to a perfect evening.

Morgan

Monday morning, he stood outside his apartment building with Blue by his side, awaiting the familiar rumble of Alexander’s engine. It didn’t take long for the BMW to screech to a halt before him. He reached out and found the handle, letting Blue hop in first before he sat next to his brother.

“Alisson called in sick,” Alexander said, straight to business as usual. Alisson was their secretary, and a trusted soul ever since she’d joined them on their business adventure.

“I’ll forward her calls to me.”

“Perfect. Once I’m done with the morning meeting, I’ll see what I can take off your shoulders.”

Morgan nodded and looked down at his phone. “Will Manuel do the meeting with Depcot this afternoon?”

“Yeah, he’s already at the office making sure Aleina and Mark have covered our bases. Do you ever think of anything but those fucking Legos?”

Morgan frowned and rolled his eyes. “I’m looking up something for Ruby.”

“I thought you wanted to keep this one, not nerd her away.”

“It’s our date. She said she wanted to try them when I told her about it.”

“Of course, anything to lure a woman into your home.”

Morgan smirked at his brother, and though his initial intention had been somewhat innocent, hedidlike the idea of Ruby in his home. It was one of the only places he didn’t feel lost. In his apartment, he didn’t need his cane or Blue to guide him around. “We’ll see.”

“Such a fucking playboy.”

“You act like my home is a whore house.”

Alexander chuckled and pumped his fist into his brother’s shoulder. “For a blind guy you’re having more than average sex.”

“And I have a cunt as a brother.”

At the office, he spent most of his day fielding calls from Alisson’s phone. She didn’t call in sick often, but when she did it was something serious. She’d been with them almost from day one. Manuel was too work focused on his meeting to tease him or ask about his date, and Alexander didn’t mention it again.

Just as they were about to leave late that evening, his personal phone rang, and Morgan couldn’t help but smile. “Hi there.”

“Hello,” Ruby chirped. “I know you said you eat anything, but I just wanted to double check with you if you’re okay with spaghetti and meatballs. I know it’s basic but—”
