“Yes,” Nix said. “As best we can.”

Harry smiled and vanished along with Rashid and Cat.

Nix felt a sense of relief when they’d gone. And unexpected sadness.

Emmett leaned against the counter.

“Are you okay?” Nix asked.

Emmett nodded but his face was drawn.

“You going to throw up?” Nix rubbed his back.

“No.” He took a deep breath and turned to face Sophie. “You have no heart. I don’t know how your sister died and I’m sorry she did, but to do what you two have been doing is selfish, wrong and dangerous.”

Sophie smirked.

“Get that look off your face, you murderous bitch,” Nix snapped.

There was a knock and Emmett pulled back the blind. “It’s the police.”

“Open it,” Nix told him.

Two guys in uniform walked in.

“Thank goodness you’ve come!” Sophie produced tears from nowhere. “These men broke in and threatened me.”

“Sophie Russell, you areunder arrest on suspicion of the murder of Malcolm Patrick. You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence.”

“What are you talking about?” she yelled. “It’s them who need arresting.”

She was released from the cable ties and handcuffed instead.

“She’s extremely dangerous,” Emmett said.

“We’ve been told. And delusional.” The policeman had a tight hold on her.

Werethey policemen or Tar’s men?

Nix handed over her phone. “This is hers.”

As they started to take her out of the shop, she turned to Nix and Emmett. “You think you can stop this? You can’t. You have no idea.” She was laughing as they took her out.

Nix slid the bolt across the door. “One down. One to go. You think Greyson’s going to come here?”

“Yes.” Emmett leaned back against the counter.

“Sure you’re okay?”

“Not brilliant. The room keeps swimming.”

Nix came up and pressed himself against him and his cock immediately hardened. He slid his hands onto Emmett’s arse. “You’re distracting me.”

“You mean I haven’t been a distraction from the moment you saw me dressed like this?”

Nix chuckled.

Emmett rested his head on Nix’s shoulder. “I wonder if they were really policemen?”
