“Don’t need the flowers for that.”

“When can I see you again?”

My stomach fluttered at the thought. “I… I don’t know.” It wasn’t like we could go on dates.

“I’ll come to your place tonight.”

“But what if someone sees you?”

“Who will see me?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know. I’m just worried.”

“I’ll dress in black and climb through your window,” he joked.

I chuckled. “That’s not creepy at all.”

“It will be fine. I want to see you again. I’ll even bring dinner.”

“I’ll cook you dinner,” I offered.

“The only woman who has ever cooked for me was my mum.”

“Not even Carrie?” I frowned as I brought her up. It was still weird to me even if it was a sham.

Booker laughed. “Carrie burns toast.”

“Then I’ll fix dinner.”

“It’s a date, gorgeous.”

My grin widened as my heart warmed. “Okay.”

“Have you heard from Ava?”

“Oh,” I blinked at the sudden change in subject. “She might have emailed me, but I haven’t had time to check them. Some guy sent me roses, and I haven’t had a chance to turn on my computer.” I didn’t even have time to check my emails on my phone. I went to court, was the first case to be called, and then I left.

“Do I need to kick this guy’s arse?” Booker teased.

“Maybe. Heispretty cocky.”

He groaned. “Don’t make me hard.”

My eyes widened, and I smiled, my cheeks turning a shade of pink as well. “Booker,” I scolded.

“All right, fine. I’m already hard.”

“Oh my God.” I laughed. “Let me check my emails. I’ll see you tonight.”

“I need your apartment number.”

“Oh right.” I gave it to him.

“And your mobile number.”

Well, that explains why he didn’t call me on Sunday.I gave it to him.

“See you at seven, gorgeous.”
