“Nice job, girl!” Georgia said and clapped her hands as she stood completely naked before her.

No one seemed to react to her nude state, but Vanessa could not help but find a spot on the wall to focus on. She thought maybe with time she could adjust, but when she found Claudia in a similar state, Vanessa realized she was far less evolved than the others.

“I’m glad to see you didn’t draw that out,” Peter called from behind her, giving her a reason to turn.

Carter pulled her into his arms and crushed her mouth with his. The kiss was deep and full of emotion. His tongue met hers, tangling and dancing in the only body-tingling way it knew. The world around them fell away. The fact she just killed Olsabir became a distant memory as her thoughts became consumed by Carter.

Her thighs clenched together, and her nipples tightened into hard peaks as desire flooded her. Vanessa jumped into his arms, their sexes lining as she became consumed by the need to be filled.

“Whoa,” someone called.

Carter gripped her ass so hard, she briefly wondered if he’d leave bruises. His forehead came to hers, their short breaths teasing each other’s lips.

“How about you two wait until you get home to fuck each other’s brains?” Peter called as he slipped into his jeans.

“Eww,” Brandy cried. “I don’t need any more of a visual.

“Babycakes, you and Ryan were worse than them.” Peter chuckled and tossed his arm over her shoulders, then walked her out of the room.

Carter slid her down his front and kissed her forehead. “God, I love you so much,” he whispered when their eyes met.

Tears sprung to her eyes, making his handsome face blur. “I love you too!”

He caressed her cheeks. “Why are you crying then?”

She giggled as she shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe because you make me happy and I don’t have to worry about—” Vanessa turned to where Olsabir’s ashes had been. “Where’d it go?”

“Brandy cleared them, but you two were too busy sucking faces,” Georgia said, tugging the hem of her shirt to her hips.

Vanessa narrowed her eyes. “Where did you get clothes from?”

“Max. He conjured mine, Peter’s, and Claudia’s so we didn’t have to walk out of here in our birthday suits. Handy little trick the witches have figured out.”

Carter chuckled. “It’s next on my list of things to learn.” He slung an arm over each of their shoulders. “Why don’t we get the hell out of here so I can take my woman home?”

“If it means no one else has to be witness to you freaks, I’m down,” Georgia replied.

Vanessa peered across Carter as he guided them back out. “Thanks again for being here.”

“Nessie, I’ll always have your back. Gotta say though, I’m really relieved knowing you can protect yourself now.”

Carter kissed Vanessa’s hair and released them both when they reached a door at the end of the hall. “I’m with Georgia on that.”

Vanessa chuckled. “Make that three.”

They reached the large group gathered around, and she noticed Joel. “Hey, where’d you go?”

“Peter told me to keep an eye on the outside in case any surprises showed,” he said, stepping forward to hug her. “I heard you handled yourself well.”

Vanessa pulled back and smiled. “Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.”

“Well, here’s hoping the rest of you can keep your asses out of trouble,” Peter announced, a single brow raised as he took each of them in.

Brandy giggled. “Edward is the only one of us who hasn’t fallen on his face. Only time will tell us.”

“Is he bringing anyone to the wedding?” Serena asked as she placed a hand on her hip. “Getting him to agree he’d stay in town for it was like pulling teeth.”

Carter scoffed. “Edward’s always brooding and alone. I’m honestly surprised each time he makes it to a family dinner.”
