Reiya could feel their embarrassment but couldn’t hide the smile on her face. Hey, why should she sympathize? She was about to go through it, too. Besides, she agreed. Chelsie had set her up in that outfit just to torture Lee. She had confessed to it, too. This was well-deserved payback. Leave it to Lee to come up with a very fitting punishment.
“You’re not joking, huh?” Brody looked up at the expectant audience. He knew Levi was making them honorary members of the dragons, but he had no clue that this had also been planned. He felt very awkward and put on the spot. He looked at Chelsie and gave her a small smile.
“This is your moment.” Lee grinned and took a few steps back, with Reiya in tow. Xander and Lila, who were the only others left up there, also pulled back behind Lee. Dex, Weston, Mason, and Ruby were anxiously watching from a nearby table.
“Okay, Chels. I guess I’ll show everyone just who you belong to.” Brody felt a sense of possessiveness flow through him. This was a good idea. He couldn’t stand it if anyone tried to flirt with HIS girl. He looked at her as the possessiveness in him grew. The quiet whisper of the wordmineechoed in his mind. He felt his fangs draw out as his animal began to demand he claim his mate. He placed a firm hand around her waist and another around her head. Then he lowered himself to her neck, taking in a gentle whiff of her scent. HIS scent. And then he sank his fangs into her.
The crowd clapped their hands and cheered for the new power couple in front of them. This was a night of history being made. Though, they hadn’t seen anything yet. This was only the beginning. Brody pulled away and gently licked the fresh mark he had made on Chelsie’s neck. He leaned his forehead against hers, and the two smiled as they gazed lovingly at one another. Though Chelsie was riddled with embarrassment, at that moment, she only saw Brody. He leaned in and gently kissed her nose, then looked at Lee. He smiled and shook his head.Damn vengeful dragon.Brody wasn’t slow on the uptake. He knew Lee had left this moment a secret on purpose. He gently led Chelsie to the side as Lee pulled Reiya forward for the main event.
Are you nervous, love?Lee asked, looking into her deep sapphire eyes.
No, I was born to be yours.Reiya watched as his eyes finally flickered down to her neck.
He stared at the necklace as it shimmered in front of him. He had forgotten all about it. It was a gem meant for his mate. He knew that the Sage must have given it to her. He lifted a hand up and gently touched the cold stone on her neck.It looks beautiful on you …
Reiya smiled. She wanted to tell him about the gem and the sprite that dwelled in it, but this wasn’t the time. Besides, soon he would be able to see the sprite for himself.
The crowd hushed in anticipation of their deity showing his acceptance of his mate, a moment that had never happened before in any lifetime. Lee continued to gaze into her deep pooling eyes. He lifted a hand and brushed her cheek with it. He leaned his forehead against hers.
“I’ve waited for you forever. This moment means so much to me,” he whispered, quietly looking at her. “I love you, Reiya. For all eternity. You are the only one who will ever have my heart.” He leaned in and kissed her lips lightly. He then expertly madehis way down, toward her neck, giving her skin little nips of attention on his way to his destination. He ran his hand around her lower back, holding her flush against his body. His other hand rested on the side of her face as he gently held her in place.
She felt him hover just over her marking spot. His hot breath scorched her skin as his hot poker tongue prodded at the mark gently. Then she felt his lips seal around her neck. The feeling of a hot iron searing into her soon faded as courses of pleasure ran through her body. Why was it so much more intense this time? She bit her bottom lip hard as she drew little blood droplets in her mouth. She was doing everything she could not to moan from the pleasure of this moment.
Reiya felt him slowly pull away from her and took in a deep breath to compose herself. This wasn’t over yet. She was now going to stake her claim on him. She looked at him as she lifted her hands up to his neck and applied pressure on his shoulders to lower him down. He looked at her inquisitively but slowly complied. The crowd hushed. They were also unsure what was happening now. Wasn’t the acceptance kiss over?
Reiya pushed Lee downward until he was on his knees. The crowd didn’t know how to act, seeing their deity on his knees before his mate. They quietly watched with shallow breaths.
“Lee, I am accepting you as my present and future, and prince to fairy kind.” She then leaned down and kissed his forehead and his eyes.
He felt a warmth flow over him, like warm water being poured over his body, and he felt a power form inside him. He wasn’t able to analyze anything further because he felt Reiya’s hot breath against his neck and her tongue gently lapping at his sensitive area. His eyes closed as a small shudder ran through his body.
“Now, Lee, it’s time for me to claim you as mine,” Reiya whispered into his neck. She felt her canines push through.Lumi was also ready to mark their mate. Her instinct took over. She lowered her fangs into his neck, slowly but deeply, making sure that she left him a lasting mark.
Was he supposed to feel pain? Because he didn’t. Instead, he felt an indescribable amount of pleasure course through him. He squeezed his fists to rein in his animal, his inner beast fighting to mate with her, to take her in that very public moment. This was like nothing he’d ever felt before. It was incredible. It was amazing. His mate was marking him. He couldn’t help the smile that formed on his lips. Damn, did he love this girl. She had no idea how much she controlled him.
She slowly pulled away and licked her mark. HER mark that she had placed on HER mate.Finally.They were complete. Reiya could feel something else stirring inside her. She felt a small pop in her chest as something new flowed through her as well.
Lee stood back up and wrapped his arms around Reiya, gently kissing her lips. The crowd clapped and cheered, having witnessed something they’d never seen before: a mutual acceptance kiss.
The world was still silent for the two as he continued to gaze at her with adoration. He could feel something new flowing through him. Once, when she made him her prince, and something else when she marked him. It was coursing through his veins, and he was curious as to what this new power was. He could also feel the presence of Chelsie and Brody in his mind. He would now be able to mindlink with them.
Lee looked over at Xander and walked up to him, with Reiya at his side. He reached out his hand, but instead, Xander went in for a hug. Xander wasn’t hugging a deity … he was hugging his older brother. He was so happy for him. Lee smiled and hugged him back. “I guess I owe you a thanks for meddling in my life that day by keeping her here.”
“Hey, what are brothers for?” Xander grinned and pulled back. He continued grinning as he looked at Reiya. “Well ... you really did what you said you were going to do. Nicely done.” Xander winked at her, then redirected his gaze to Lee. He gave him a knowing look. “I can handle the rest.”
Lee smiled and shook his head. “Thanks.” He slapped Xander on the back and began walking away, pulling Reiya along with him. There was nothing else needed from them tonight. They didn’t have to mingle with all the dragons like a king would. Lee never associated with the other dragons much before, and that wasn’t about to change now. With the exception of their royal friends, of course.
He pulled Reiya out to the field in the distance. He was going to spend some precious time with the best damn mate he could have ever asked for.
Chapter 87 Up to the Sky
She looked up at the sky that had been peppered with little twinkling diamonds. The night air was cool but not cold. Little fireflies sparkled around them as he held her close to his chest.
“I hope that was okay to do.” Reiya’s voice was quiet as she looked up at the sky.
“It was more than okay. It was just hard to control myself afterward. I wanted the moment to continue,” Lee answered in a husky tone that sent shivers down her spine.
Reiya looked over her new mark on Lee’s neck. She reached her hand up and traced along it. “From now on, there will be no mistaking that you’re taken.” Lee chuckled and held her hand over his mark.
