He smirked. “If we have one together, it’ll be longer than ten, so you go first. I’ll play a game while I wait.”
I kissed his jaw and stepped into the shower. “Thanks, honey.”
He winked. “Welcome, sweetheart.” His gaze ran down and up my body.
Laughing, I shoved his face back. “Tonight.”
His grin made my heart stumble. “You should just move your things in here. Think about it,” he said before closing the door to the shower and walking out of the bathroom like he hadn’t just blown my mind.
He wanted me to move in with him.
Wasn’t that too soon?
You’ve been dancing around each other for years.
But he didn’t know everything. I’d never told him about the parents. And what happened if I did move all my things in and he grew bored of me?
Stop it, dickhead.
I promised myself I wouldn’t think like that again.
It was going to be a hard process—to adjust the way I’d always thought—but it would be worth it. I’d continue this internal struggle until it eventually stopped. The outcome of staying strong with Kayson would be worth it.
After showering, I dressed in the clean clothes I brought in here for my sleepover.
But now he was asking for full-time sleepovers.
My stomach fluttered and heart stumbled.
Smiling, I removed the towel from my hair and went over to where he sat on the couch. He was blessed with one of the biggest rooms for his gaming set-up. It would be nice to have more space like this in our room.
Our room.
It wouldn’t be just his, but ours.
Gripping the towel in front of me, I asked, “Are you asking me to move into your room?” I awkwardly laughed. “I did hear that, right?”
He put his controller down and stood, coming up to me. He took my towel from my hands and grinned. “That’s exactly what you heard. But don’t answer now. Take the day to make sure you could put up with me every night.”
I scoffed. “It’s more like if you can put up with me and my things lying around.”
He cupped the back of my head and drew me in. “Always.” He kissed me firmly before saying, “Have a good breakfast, sweetheart.” Then he walked by me, with my towel, into the bathroom.
I blinked.
He wanted me in his space.
“Oh my God,” I breathed, my smile amping up to a megawatt one.
“He asked you to move into his room,” Dusty exclaimed.
“Shhh,” I said, looking around at the other customers in the café. Dusty waved me off, not caring who was around listening.
“I think this is amazing. You two have been dancing around each other for years.” She reached across the table and took my hand. “Seriously, babe, I haven’t seen you so happy in a long time.”
I shrugged. Sitting back in the seat, I smiled. “Things are going well. I’m trying to not listen to the part of my brain that’s a negative nelly, and I warned Kayson there’d be times when she wins.”
“What did he say?”
