Scooting as close as I could, I pressed my face against his neck and kissed him there. “Love you.”

His arm tightly wrapped around my waist, and his lips touched the top of my head. “Love you so fuckin’ much, Eve.”

It was ridiculous how melty this man made me.

I’d been a fool to fight this.

We were made for each other.

But it can still end.

He’ll get bored. You’re nothing. You’re useless and pathetic and you’ll just hurt him.

I burrowed in tighter and pushed those thoughts away.

I wouldn’t destroy this.

Kayson wanted me.

He loves me.

And I refused to be the toxic part in this relationship that could fuck us up.

He made me happy, and he’d said I did the same for him.

Whenever he was close, it was like I’d been covered in a warm blanket, safe and protected, even from my thoughts.

I used to push him away in fear of being heartbroken, but no more.

I was going to hold on to the man I loved for the rest of our lives.

And I believed we would last.

I did.

But—

No!

We had the real deal. Nothing like those parents I had.

We were solid.

Tipping my head back, Kayson gave me what I wanted by kissing me. His slid his tongue into my mouth to dance with my own in a slow, dirty rhythm.

Unfortunately, there was a knock on the door.

Kayson groaned in annoyance before he yelled, “Wait.” He climbed out of bed and slipped on some jeans. “I’ll go get rid of them.”

Grinning, I nodded and admired his gorgeous, big build as he walked towards the door. He opened it only a little so no one could see in.

“Dusty, what’s up?”

“Get Eve in the shower. I’m taking her out for an early breakfast before she goes to work.”

“I’ll be ready in ten,” I called, then laughed when I heard Kayson’s deep sigh.

“Meet you downstairs,” Dusty replied before Kayson shut the door, and I flung the blankets back, climbing out of bed. I quickly rushed into the bathroom and used the toilet before Kayson entered to turn on the shower.
