“Thank you, Ry. I didn’t realize how much I needed to talk about it.” Harmony lifted her hand and placed it on his cheek, looking at him in wonder. “I feel lighter, freer than I can ever remember. It’s like I just got rid of a huge yoke weighing me down.

“You deserve so much better, sweetheart,” Ry said. Their gaze connected, and her pupils dilated as her breath hitched.

The need to kiss her overwhelmed his better judgment. He paused with his lips only inches from hers, giving her a chance to stop him. Then a slight smile tipped the edges of her lips as she closed the distance.

As their mouths came together, Harmony sighed as her tongue glided over his soft lips. Ry tasted of salt and beer, and she decided it was her new favorite flavor. Desire pooled low in her belly. She wanted more, needed to be closer. Her arms circled his neck. Her fingers slid through the hair at the base of his head.

“Open for me, sweetheart,” he murmured.

When she did, his tongue slipped inside her mouth and swept against hers. She groaned and timidly responded, copying his movements. She’d read about kisses like this, but this was her first.Holy cow. Her nipples hardened and her panties dampened. Filled with need, she pulled him closer.

When he released her mouth, she opened her eyes and gazed at him in wonder. When had I closed them? The quick staccato of his heartbeat matched hers. Didn’t that mean he wanted this as much as she did? So why had he pulled away? Was it because she didn’t know what she was doing?

“Why did you stop? Did I do something wrong?” Harmony asked, searching his face for answers.

“Oh, baby, no way. Far from it. You did everything right. Can’t you feel my hard cock against your thigh?”

Moving her leg, Harmony’s mouth formed an “O” as she realized he was throbbing against her. A purely female sense satisfaction filled her, and she felt sexy for the first time in her life, even if she didn’t know what she was doing. She’d made Ry so excited he moaned, and it made her feel smug, until his lips claimed hers again and she couldn’t think of anything but him.

Her toes curled as Ry’s hand skimmed the side of her breast through her T-shirt and he kissed a path from her lips over her jaw and to her neck. Leaning her head back to give him better access, he nuzzled against her, then nipped her where her neck and shoulder met, sending more wetness into her panties.

“You’re killing me, woman.”

“I’m sorry,” she stuttered.

“No, baby. It’s a good thing.” His smile melted the frozen places in her heart.

He took her breath away, and she didn’t know how she’d gotten so lucky. Nothing in her life prepared her for the desire coursing through her veins. Were these feelings normal? She was probably the only twenty-eight-year-old virgin in the state of Virginia. It should embarrass her, but after everything she’d been through, it was pretty low on the list. She’d tried to masturbate a few times when she’d still been living at home, but she’d been too afraid her father would walk in and catch her.

Romance books were new to her, and she loved them. They’d kept her from feeling so lonely. At home, she’d only read what her father allowed. But one of the first things she’d done after getting settled was to download the Kindle app and a bunch of romances. She’d never been so turned on in her life. When she took her shower, she used her fingers to get off. Running her hands over her body, tweaking her nipples, and then sliding her fingers between her legs. She’d been so wet it only took a few strokes on her clitoris to send her over the edge.

It had felt good, and she’d been more relaxed afterward, but there was no shattering into a million little pieces, or bright lights flashing in front of her eyes. Afterward, she’d wondered if she’d done something wrong, or maybe it hadn’t been a true orgasm. Not that she had anyone to ask.

But Ry’s kisses.Oh. My. God. Everywhere he touched, her skin tingled, and she burned with need.

“Do we have to stop?” Harmony asked shyly. She was prepared to beg if necessary.

Ry ran his hand through her hair and across her cheek. “After everything you’ve been through, I’d feel like I was taking advantage of the situation.”

“I don’t care.”

“You would tomorrow. I could kiss you all night, but it would lead to more. And I don’t want you to have any regrets when we make love for the first time.”

Harmony nodded. Ry was right, even if she didn’t want to admit it. Was she ready to give her his virginity? Would he freak out about it? Or had he already figured it out?

“So, no more kisses?” Harmony asked.

“There will be plenty more, just not tonight. I think we need to get you to bed. What time do you need to be at work?” Ry asked as he stood with her in his arms and didn’t release her until she was steady on her feet.

“I have to be there by eight, but I can call for an Uber.”

“I don’t have to be at PT at seven, so it’s no problem to drop you off at work and head to base.”

“Are you sure? You’ve already done so much for me.” People helping was a new sensation for her. It would take some getting used to.

“I’m positive. Let’s get you to bed.” He took her hand and led her around the coffee table.
