“Hey, sweetheart, how’s your day going?” Ry asked, watching her from across the street. It squeezed his heart when he saw her excited smile when she saw it was him calling.

“I’m okay, another boring day in bankland. How about you? Are you having a good one?”

“Eh, it’s okay, just a lot of training like usual. Are you going out for lunch today?”

“No, I stole one of your protein bars this morning. I didn’t feel like it. My spidey senses are tingling on high today.”

“Probably good you’re staying inside. I talked to Detective Nelson, still nothing on Harry. So you’re probably okay, but it doesn’t hurt to be careful. Always trust your gut.”

“Yeah, that’s what my smart, sexy boyfriend keeps telling me. I should probably listen to him.” Harmony giggled.

“He sounds like a really smart guy. I’d definitely listen. Quinn’s calling me, I’ve got to get going. I’ll see you at pickup time.”

“Okay, have a good afternoon, sweetie.”

It wasn’t until Ry hung up that he realized she’d called him sweetie. It was the first time, and he wanted to cheer. But then Harry Ericson walked into the bank.

“Is that Ericson?” Quinn asked.

“Yeah, it is. Fuck me running.”

“What do you want to do? I’d suggest not calling the cops; they’ll go in there guns blazing and we’ll never catch what did you call him? Oh yeah, Daddy Douchebag.”

“You’re right. Let’s see what he does.” Then he turned on his comms. “Ericson is in the bank. Stay vigilant.”

Everyone responded with, “Good copy.”

Ry was ready to charge across the street if Ericson so much as leaned toward his woman.

“It’ll be okay. Nothing will happen to her,” Quinn said.

“That’s for fucking sure. I’ll rip him apart if he tries anything,” Ry threatened.

“But we agreed it’s Taylor, right?”

“Yeah, but I still don’t trust this guy.”

“Got it. There are five SEALs surrounding that bank. Anyone will have to go through us, and you know that doesn’t happen.”

“Truth. I appreciate it, boss. I wouldn’t have been able to do this alone.”

“You’re never alone, you know that. We’re family. Harmony is too, so shut the fuck up and concentrate on her.”

“Copy that, boss.” Ry grinned, but there was no humor in it. From the way his neck itched, it was only a matter of time before something happened.

The last person Harmony expected to show up at the bank was Harry Ericson. Yet, there he was. He looked nothing like the man she’d met three months earlier when he’d first come in with his wife. The man looked haggard, had a scruffy beard, and messy hair, but it was definitely Harry.

At first, she thought about calling Ry, but she still didn’t believe Harry was a threat to her or anyone else.

“Hi, Harry. How are you?”

“Can I come in?” He asked from the doorway.

“Of course.” Then she reached behind her to grab a bottle of water and handed it to him. “Are you okay?”

“My Barb died,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

She’d strained to hear him, but she knew what he’d said.
