Harmony’s eyes filled with tears. “She was so sweet. I prayed for her so much. I hoped they’d be able to save her. Poor Harry. He must be devastated.”

“No one can find him. I hope he didn’t do something stupid.”

“Like torch my car?”

He knew she didn’t believe he’d done it, and Ry had his doubts as well. But he still was the best suspect they had. “Maybe. Grief does things to people, changes them.”

“Maybe, but I just don’t think he’d hurt anyone or anything. You didn’t see him when they came in the first time. They walked in holding hands. I’d never seen a couple so in love before, and they’d been married for thirty years.”

Ry nodded. He wouldn’t tell her his doubts, or that he had a feeling her father was in Virginia Beach, until he had proof.

He put the Bourne Identity movie on for Harmony and went into his room to make his calls. First one was to Chrissy. He told her his suspicions, and she said she’d check it out. Then he called Quinn and Josh. He’d found proof that someone was watching his apartment but hadn’t been able to catch them.

When Chrissy let him know earlier that William Taylor’s phone hadn’t left Norwalk, but no one had seen him in a week, Ry’s gut had said, ‘I told you so,’ and he wanted to kick himself for not following up more quickly.

Taylor was dirty through and through, and the guy he’d bribed to marry Harmony was a lawyer in the firm Taylor used for all his legal activities—probably illegal ones too.

If Jim hadn’t run away with his secretary, he’d have been under Taylor’s thumb, just like Harmony. The last thing Chrissy had uncovered bothered him the most. There had been no sign of her mother for over twenty-five years. The last time anyone had seen her, or she’d used a credit card or anything else, was in Norwalk in March of nineteen-ninety-six.

Once she found him, they’d set the trap and hopefully catch the spider in his own web.

Ry had debated whether to tell Harmony about the plan he and Josh had come up with, but after talking to Chrissy too, they decided it was safer if she didn’t know. Ry worried it would backfire, but after he’d dropped her off at the bank, it was too late to reconsider.

“Josh, you in position?” Ry asked through his comms. They’d spoken to Quinn last night too, and he gave them permission to ‘borrow” the units for testing. As long as they didn’t interfere with law enforcement, they would be okay.

“Copy. That bank has lousy security. I set the listening device in Harmony’s office like we’d planned. No one stopped me or even asked what I was doing there,” Josh said. He was in position behind the bank, watching the rear entrance.

Chrissy's superpowers worked out the plan. After she’d figured out that Wendy was involved, it all fell into place. Then suggested they plant the bug in Harmony’s office so they’d hear as well as see what was going on.

Ry hid across the street in an empty storefront, watching with his binoculars. Whiskey was alert and by his side, picking up on his tension. He was so thankful that the front of the bank was all glass. It made it possible for him to easily keep an eye on Harmony and Wendy, and anyone who entered through the front.

“Now we wait for the motherfucker,” Ry said, never taking his focus off the front of the bank.

“The calvary just showed up,” Josh said.

“Who?”

“All of them,” the rest of the team answered.

“I figured you could use the help,” Quinn said. “Just tell us where you want us.”

Ry swallowed hard. He didn’t know what he’d do without his team. “Take as many angles around the bank as we can cover. I don’t know how much Daddy Douchebag knows about me, so we need to stay out of view.”

“Copy that,” they answered one by one.

Quinn came into view a moment later and ducked inside with Ry. “I’ll help you cover the front.”

“Thanks, boss. I appreciate this.”

“I know, but you’re gonna have to thank Tony later. He authorized our time off.”

“Seriously? Fuck, I’m going to owe him a bottle of scotch for this.”

Quinn chuckled. “At least one.”

A few hours passed as they waited, but they were used to surveillance. Ry called Harmony at lunchtime like he usually did.
