I was going to make it a thing when this was over.

“Okay, I get why you would find that hilarious, but please, don’t rope my son into that nonsense. He—”

Just then, Sleipnir joined us in the kitchen to prove my point.

“I wish we had those in the pocket realm. This century is exciting. How are you cooking without fire?” he demanded.

“Okay, he’s adorable,” Killian said. “This is a stove. That right there is a microwave. You can cook things in that too. Over there is the fridge. You put food in there to keep it cold and from spoiling. You put things in the freezer if you buy something but don’t want to cook it right away. There’s also ice cream in there, but best buy your own because Ravyn will murder you if you eat her Chunky Monkey. Where is Bjorn? He should be here for this.”

“Where’s Ravyn?” Sleipnir asked. “Aren’t we going to battle?”

“Not just yet. I need to learn my enemy’s weaknesses. Ravyn and Bjorn have some things in common. Neither of them like waking up in the morning.”

“So, I have breakfast waiting so she can eat when she gets to work. If you have the option to spoil Ravyn, you should always take it,”

“What about my mother?” Sleipnir said. “He’s a god!”

“Who hates having a fuss made about him. I spoil her too, Sleipnir. It’s what you do when you care about someone, no matter how powerful you are.”

“I cooked for you and Bjorn too, and I just met you. See? I can spoil you too.”

“Thanks. Sorry, I’m still getting used to all this and being around more people than just Bjorn again.”

“Ravyn and I will help. We’re going to have to take you and Bjorn shopping. You can pick out clothes you like and bath products.”

“Deodorant is a beautiful thing about this century. We’ll get you some. I’m immortal, but Iswearby this moisturizer made by the Seelie. We’ll all get you set up in the modern world.”

“We just have to beat Valentine and his ghosts first,” Killian said.

“Yeah, but I have a plan for that,” I said.

I just needed to look Valentine in the eye and ask him a few questions to figure out what that plan was.

Chapter38

Ravyn

Bjorn stumbled out of his bedroom right around the time I did. He grinned when he saw me like he knew something I didn’t. He probably did. That bitch saw the future.

“Don’t worry. I found the toilet okay and figured out how to use it,” he said with a smirk.

“Why? Did someone not?”

Someone better not have pissed in my house.

“Your house is clean, Ravyn. I think your men prepared breakfast.”

“Have you seen anything new?” I asked.

“Not since last night. I don’t really have control over my visions. I tried to learn it while we were in the pocket realm, but I can’t force it. I can’t stop it when it’s happening either. It just is.”

I felt bad for him. I used to think I wanted the power to see the future, but then I met Bjorn and saw him have a vision.

“It seems painful.”

“It’s tiring and can be painful while it’s coming on, but once I sleep, I’m fine.”

“I have some recipes that might help you. I’m not sure. They help replenish magic for witches if they use too much. You aren’t exactly a witch, but it couldn’t hurt,” I said as we walked into the kitchen.
