All three of them asked, “Can we stay?”
“What?” I asked, meeting each of their gazes. “I’m so confused. What’s really going on guys?”
“That’s my cue,” Kai said and stood up. He sighed as he pulled out of his back pocket an envelope and walked it over to me.
“What is this?” I asked, taking the envelope.
“A surprise,” he said. “Duh.”
I laughed. “Asshole.”
He blew a kiss. “Love you too, babe.”
I shook my head as I opened the envelope and pulled out the contents. I twisted toward the light so I could see the writing. My eyes focused on each letter, not processing what it was I held. Not because I didn’t know what it was, but because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing… what I held in my hands. It wasn’t possible. Things like this just never happened in real life.
It was a deed to the cabin. Bold red letters stamped at the top of the letter read: RECLAIMED.
I sucked in breath after breath as my lungs went into overdrive.
Listed on the line of the owner was Kai’s name. Then I read the address and I knew beyond any doubt I was right where I had wanted to be from the start.
“How did…?” I let the words remain unspoken.
“Kismet, my sweet,” Chase said.
“Coincidence,” Jasper added.
“Fate,” Kai said.
I let the paper fall to my lap and sobbed into my hands. I found my family’s cabin. And my men just gave it to me. I wasn’t sure how they figured out they were living in the very cabin I had been looking for, but it was another thing I had to be grateful to them for.
The men surrounded me, providing me comfort and love and warmth as I sobbed. Once I was able to get a hold of myself, I wiped the tears from my eyes and used the sleeve of my sweater to wipe my nose, and then faced the men.
“Thank you so much,” I said. “You have no idea what this means to me.”
“Well,” Jasper said. “We sort of do.”
“Since the first day we met you,” Kai said.
“So,” Chase said. “Can we stay?”
I smiled at them. “Only if you promise to behave yourselves and share me.”
The men pulled away and walked to the other side of the fire to discuss the option. I heard a few of the words they said, but not enough to make sense of anything. I did get the impression they were playing this up for my sake. A way to tease me.
“Guys?” I said, trying to get their attention.
Kai held up a finger as they continued to discuss among themselves.
“Seriously?” I asked.
“Just a moment, my sweet,” Chase said.
I shook my head and leaned back into the chair. “You know you don’t have to do this for show.”
Jasper broke away. “Oh, we’re not.”
“What are you discussing?” I asked.
