JAX
I had missed Emily in ways I couldn’t describe. We all did. Me, Marcus, and Bret.
She made a change in all of us when she came into our lives. Marcus had met her first. Dated her for the longest time. Right up to the day when she left us to go live with the wolves. She was so smooth and easy to be around. She made everything easier.
But she found out about what her family had done, and that messed with her a lot. After waiting for her to leave on her own, they came to us and nearly knocked our door down to get her.
Our choices were to either let her go or start a war with the local coven and wolf pack.
Of course, she left. She had no other options. Though it was difficult to let her go back then, I had a feeling she was going to be back.
And I was right. She came back, and I was more than happy to get in all the time I could with her.
She was quite the firecracker. Though it was hard to believe, she had grown more beautiful with her absence. It was hard to ignore the sensations that rushed through my blood when she was near me. And I could smell her arousal on her, which made it all the more difficult to keep my hands off of her.
But if anyone was going to take her though, it needed to be Marcus. He deserved as much respect. She was his before she was even on my radar. But the tiny fact didn’t mean the struggle wasn’t real. It would be easy to take her. I could make her melt into the palm of my hand.
A little kiss on the cheek… a soft touch on her skin… and she would be as good as mine.
But I owed Marcus my life, and I knew how he felt about her. As much as I wanted her, I had to wait. I needed to give him the chance to rekindle things with her. It would feel too much like a cheap move to swoop in and steal her right from under his nose.
Sparring with her was the most fun I had in a long while, though it made it slightly more difficult to ignore her arousal, driving me and my dragon a little bit crazy. She had some real skills and talent. And the way she wrapped her legs around me… I was rather surprised that she hadn’t lost much of her training while she was with the dogs of Washington.
But she wasn’t the only one that had changed. I was changing too. All because of her. I wasn’t much of a jokester. That was Bret’s department. But with Emily, it was easy to find things to tease her about.
“What was that move?” I asked.
She tried to do a roundhouse kick, but it was sloppy and lacked the uniformity it needed to really land right. In her defense, she had been laughing the entire time, which only added to the hilarity of what I saw.
“What do you mean?” she asked, playing dumb.
I imitated her move and threw in a little spice for flavor. She laughed. I loved hearing her laugh. That sound was exactly what this place was missing.
“Making fun of me now, are you?” she asked. “That’s a low blow.”
I shrugged. “You’re the one giving me plenty of ammunition to use against you. But it’s understandable. You’re a bit out of practice.”
She propped her hands on her round hips and glared at me. Her thick red hair spilled around her shoulders. Sweat made some of the strands stick to her forehead and cheeks. The whole image was sexy. Hot as hell. I once again struggled against the urge to take her again. The only thing stopping me was my respect for Marcus and how much I valued our friendship. And he was more than a friend to me. He was my brother. “I’m better on the ground anyway. But I’ll get there.”
“Why didn’t you keep up on your forms?” I asked.
She dropped her arms to her sides and sighed. “I’ll give you three guesses and the first two don’t count.”
I nodded. “Fair enough. Though the guy is making me like him less and less and I didn’t have much love for him to begin with.”
“You and me, both,” she said. “I didn’t exactly have room or freedom to do much of anything but punch my mattress and even then, that rarely happened. I suspect most of what I still have is just muscle memory.”
“Possibly.” I smirked and then asked, “So, you’re better on the ground, you say?”
She giggled and glanced up at me from under her lashes. Her woodsy brown eyes held mine for a moment before falling to her plump lips. I held my breath for fear I would lose my control and throw out all my better judgment in favor of seeing what they tasted like.
I cleared my throat. “Well?”
She got down on the floor. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Everything in me was screaming that this was a bad idea. But I couldn’t resist her. She laid on the ground with her legs bent and spread wide. I instantly thought of her naked, pussy swollen and wet, practically begging for my dick to fill her.
