Marcus nodded. “Believe me, I’m well aware of that. As much as the fact bothers me.”

“What do you propose we do?” I asked. “We can’t very well force her to stay. That would only blow up in our faces.”

“Force who to stay?” Jax asked, pulling my attention to him. He leaned against the doorway to the balcony with his arms crossed over his chest and his legs at the ankles. He smiled.

“Well look at who’s up and about and looking as fresh as a dragon back from the dead can be,” I said, turning around and resting against the wall of the balcony.

“Almost one hundred percent,” he said, joining us. He stood on the other side of Marcus. “You can’t get rid of me that easily.”

“The fact that you are doing so well is a miracle in and of itself,” Marcus added. “What about your dragon?”

Jax shook his head. The frown on his face said everything. “Still working on that.”

Marcus clapped the man on the shoulder. “Give him time. He’ll come around when he’s ready.”

“I hope so,” Jax said. “Now, about the topic I stumbled in on…”

“Emily,” I offered. “Who else would we be talking about.”

“I figured as much,” he said. “I take it she’s leaving?”

“We don’t know,” Marcus said. “But the going consensus is we don’t want her to go.”

“She can’t leave,” Jax said. “I’ll talk to her. Reason with her to stay.”

“None of us want to see her go,” I said. “But pushing her up against a corner isn’t going to do us any favors.”

“What can we do to make her stay though?” Marcus added.

“Why don’t we just ask her?” Jax asked.

“We could,” Marcus said, returning to his thoughts. “How is the question. It needs to be special.”

“Wait,” I said, holding up my hand. “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”

He sighed. “Sharing her is far better than a life lived without her.”

“Yeah, but…” Jax said. “Would she accept the three of us? I mean it’s one thing to be casual but there’s a whole other thing when you consider a relationship with three different men, no matter how close we all are.”

“And we could do far worse than sharing one woman,” I said. “Besides, we’re brothers. We’ve shared many things.”

“A woman, especially one like Emily, is a bit different than the things we’ve shared in the past,” Marcus said. “She’s not an object or a meal.”

“Speak for yourself,” I said and chuckled when Marcus glared at me.

“He’s got a point there,” Jax said.

“I get that, but would it really be that bad?” I asked.

Jax and Marcus shrugged.

“I, personally, think it would be the best thing ever,” I said.

Marcus and Jax glanced at me with a mix of expressions from confusion and questioning my sanity.

“My point is, if we want Emily to stay, we have to be willing to share her. Pushing her against a wall or even trying to make her decide which one of us to be with will likely end up badly for everyone involved. So, before we go any further on this, we have to all agree that we won’t fight over her.”

Silence settled on us as I waited for Jax and Marcus’s response. After several minutes I sighed.
