Page 110 of Finding Mercy

Liam and Mercy would like to take this moment to recognize the significant role that Ivy Reynolds plays in this marriage celebrated today by presenting her with a gift.”

Xander hands me the bracelet we had made for Ivy. It’s rose gold with butterflies and roses alternating in a row.

I speak to Ivy, who now stands between us with a confused look.

“Ivy, you know that we are trying to adopt you because we want you to be part of our family forever. Regardless of what the courts decide, we are family, our bond has been created and can never be destroyed. No matter what anybody says, you are our daughter.”

I put the bracelet on her wrist.

Liam squats down to her level, looks back and forth at us, and nearly yells, “Can I call you mom and dad then?”

All of our guests laugh.

Liam and I both reply, “Yes,” at the same time.

She hugs Liam, and it’s as if she’s thanking him a thousand times just for loving her.

He speaks low to her, “Go stand with Elle we are almost done and ready to go party.”

She does, and the minister smiles.

“Throughout this ceremony, Liam and Mercy have vowed, in our presence, to be loyal and loving towards each other. They have formalized the existence of the bond between them, with words spoken, and with the giving and receiving of rings. Therefore, it is my pleasure to pronounce them husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”

Liam takes me in his arms and kisses me like no one is watching. After hearing the hoots and hollers from our friends, he finally pulls away, and the minister announced us, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you Dr. and Mrs. Liam Lexington,”

We rented a hotel suite for a small reception, so we head back there for the celebration.

This time it’s just Liam and me in our limo and the rest of our friends and Ivy in the other. He hands me a glass of champagne, “For my beautiful wife.”

I giggle, “That sounds weird.”

“Get used to it, baby girl. Tonight, I’ll make you mine for the rest of our lives.”

“Tonight? We are already married,” I say after drinking a sip of champagne.

He brushes the hair out of my face, “Baby girl, I’ve never been inside my wife. Tonight, I will be, and you will completely be mine.”

I shake my head, “I’ve been yours since I was sixteen.”

We make it up to the hotel suite, and I see Elle and Isabella did a wonderful job decorating. There are flowers everywhere with fairy lights strung throughout.

The DJ announces, “Ladies and Gentlemen make way for Dr. and Mrs. Liam Lexington.”

He starts playing, ‘Better Today’ by Coffey Anderson.

Liam pulls me into his arms, and we dance.

“I changed my mind about dancing,” he whispers.

“Is that so?”

“Oh, baby girl, if you're in my arms, it can’t be so bad.”

He kisses me, and we stop moving.

Elle yells, “That’s not dancing. That’s making out.”

He pulls back from me and glares at her.
