“Dress shopping, baby.”
Elle blurts out, “You aren’t invited Li Li!”
Everyone laughs at my fallen expression.
“We have to go. Ivy has school tomorrow.”
“I want to go look at pretty dresses,” she pouts.
“Well, you have school. Also, we can’t look for yours until I find mine because I want them to match.”
She beams as she claps excitedly.
I pay the bill, which was expensive, but my baby is worth it, and we leave. Hugs and kisses are given on our way out. Mostly to Ivy. Everyone loves her, and it warms my heart. I love that she fits in so well with everyone. She doesn’t seem to annoy them like little kids often do. They adore her almost as much as Mercy and I do, almost.
On the drive home, I glanced at her, “Do I need a tux?”
She bites her lip, and I raise an eyebrow. Clearing her throat, she says, “Sorry, I was imagining you in a tux. But you can wear a suit if you prefer.”
“What about the honeymoon?”
She beams at me, “I hadn’t thought about it. But it would be nice to go somewhere if we can find someone to watch Ivy. It would have to be Elle. I don’t want her without us at Isabella and Xander’s until this stalker situation is over.”
I nod, “Yeah, that makes sense. Where do you want to go?”
Mercy shrugs, “Anywhere with you will be wonderful. I’ll let you decide.”
I chuckle, “Motel 6 in Stroudsburg it is then!”
She lightly taps my leg, “Okay, maybe not anywhere.”
“How long?” I ask.
“I don’t know. I’ll talk to Elle tomorrow and let you know.”
I squeeze her thigh as I pull into the garage.
We walk inside, and Ivy yawns.
Mercy giggles, “Go get pajamas on and brush your teeth. I’ll be in shortly to read you a book.”
“Okay,” she says as she walks sleepily to her bedroom.
Mercy turns to me, “Is the handsome doctor coming to read the book with us?”
“Handsome huh?”
“Oh very, the handsomest.”
“I’m going to need a dictionary around you, because I am not sure handsomest is a word.”
I pull her into my arms and kiss her neck.
“It is indeed a word, doctor.”
“Not one I’ve ever heard,” I say as I bite her neck.
She giggles, “Story time first.”
