I shake my head, “Sure.”
“Do you know where IT is?”
“I do.”
I saw it and met him when I got the hospital tour.
I get up and get ready, wondering what on earth he wants with me. I shower, get changed, and drive to the hospital.
When I get to the hospital, I park and walk to the IT department, hoping I don’t run into Liam. This morning was painful and stressful. At this moment, I’m hoping he’ll be working late, which I know is wrong because Ivy will want to see him.
I knock on the open door and walk in.
“Can you close the door, please?”
I nod and shut it.
“Sit, please.”
He hands me a folder, “I’d appreciate this conversation to be kept confidential because I could lose my job over this. But Liam has helped me, and now it’s my turn to help him.
“Oh, this is about Liam,” I hand him the folder and go to stand.
“Don’t you even want to know the truth?”
I stare at him, unsure of how to even respond.
“The truth is, there in that folder. Don’t you owe it to yourself to at least know?”
I take the folder back and sit back down.
I read:
Stephanie Jacobs. Dr. Shane Jacobs' sister. What the fuck?
Stephanie Jacobs Statement:
I went into the on-call room where Dr. Lexington was sleeping. My brother asked me to do it because he’s fascinated with Dr. Lexington’s fiancé’. He said the nurses would talk, and Liam would lose everything. I got undressed, and he was sleeping deeply. I climbed into bed with him. He moaned Mercy a few times but never woke up until the woman entered the room and threw his shoe at his head. Nothing happened between us. He did not even know I was there until his fiancé walked into the room, waking him up.
Then I lost my job for sexual harassment. I’m writing this statement being honest and truthful to hopefully not lose my license.
Dr. Shane Jacobs:
Employment ended due to admitting involvement in sexual harassment. Signed by Chief of Medicine Daniel Darby.
There's so much more, but I’ve seen enough.
“Is Liam aware of all of this?”
He nods.
“Why didn’t he tell me?”
A frown crosses his features, “He thinks after what you saw that there’s no coming back from it. I don’t think Liam believes you love him at this point if I’m honest. I’m crossing a line, but I thought you deserved to know the truth.”
I smile weakly, “Thank you. I appreciate this.”
I hand him the folder and leave.
