“Same with Fury,” Amelia said. “I hope I can pull it off.”
“Just think of it as our Mission Dumbass,” Lindsey said. “Think about us girls and how we’re in this together, and we don’t want to let each other down.”
“Oh, that’s good,” Zoe said.
“Let’s not talk about it until after dinner. We don’t want to be caught,” Amelia said.
“I think a few guys are coming now,” Ella whispered. “Act sad, girls.”
Jada looked down and tore her napkin apart.
“So, what do we want to do today?” Tara asked.
“Nothing. I don’t feel like doing anything,” Harley said.
Each girl gave the same type of answer. Jada saw the men stop outside of the room just out of sight.
“I just want to lay down and sleep, but I just got up, and I know I won’t sleep tonight if I do,” Lindsey said.
“What do you think will get us out of this funk?” Lina asked.
The girls were silent, but Jada saw the shadows of a few of the guys move.
“I know they agreed with us, but I still can’t get over the feeling that I was missing something,” Jada said. She almost smiled because that sounded so good, and she could see the others were pleased.
“You guys, I don’t know about you, but sometimes I have nightmares about Fury not wanting me anymore, and I’d have to leave,” Amelia said.
They all agreed they felt the same.
“I say we make a pact now that if one of us has to leave, we all go together,” Kyra said.
“I love that idea,” Amelia said. “I won’t feel so scared and alone.”
“I think we should get the breakfast cleanup done. How about a movie? I don’t feel like doing anything else,” Tara said.
“When I get upset,” Zoe said. “I clean.”
Jada nodded. “Me, too.”
“I’ve wanted to clean and organize the pantry for a while. We can do that,” Amelia said.
Zoe straightened. “Some of us can take inventory while the others pull things out and clean the shelves.”
“Great idea. I’ll come back as soon as I’m done with Crush,” Chelsea said.
“Maybe next we can tackle the freezers,” Ella said. “I can never find anything I need.”
“Good plan, girls. Let’s get to it,” Lina said.
Jada almost started laughing when the shadows moved away.
Jada was cleaning off the top shelf on a ladder an hour later when hands came around her waist.
“Woman, what the hell do you think you’re doing?” Titan growled as he set her on her feet.
She wiped the sweat from her brow with the back of her hand. “Cleaning. Why?”
“I don’t want you on ladders.”
