I giggled and pulled back to look at him when his lips crashed down on mine. Moving and commanding, I could feel the love he had for me, for us in this kiss. It was like something out of a fairy tale, something I couldn’t even dream of sharing with someone.
But Finn, he made me believe in the impossible.
After Xavier was satisfied with his work, he released us from the limelight.
“Wait, wait!” He cried, “I have something for you!”
He waved his arms around, like Finn and I were already in the truck well on our way home. “Calm down, Xavier.” I said with a laugh. “We aren’t even that close to the truck.”
He produced a shiny silver bag with bright green tissue paper sticking out of the top. “It’s something for the baby.”
I eyed him and his giddy smile, a little nervous at whatever the gift would be. He didn’t want children, and since he was the oldest in the group he probably wouldn’t have any now.
Finn held the bag between his hands so mine were free to be used. I pulled the tissue paper out cautiously, or tried to. Xavier sighed and ripped the paper out of the bag. “Hurry up!”
“Pushy!” I said, peering into the bag at the neatly folded fabric at the bottom. I picked it up between my thumb and forefingers. It unfurled as I pulled and the sparkly letters made me snort laugh.
“You rascal!” I laughed, especially at the expression on Finn’s face. He was not amused at the little onesie with the words ‘My Fairy Godfather is better than your Fairy Godfather’ in bright pink writing.
“I had it specially made, just for today.” He smirked, snapping photos on his camera.
I caught Finn’s smirk out of the corner of my eye, and we all had a laugh as we said goodbye.

When we got back, I took the small onesie up to the nursery. Finn joined me not long after, the both of us just soaking in the silence and company of one another. The new rocking chair was plush and sitting in it was like floating on a cloud.
Finn sat on the floor, back against the crib, legs stretched out in front of him.
“I want to take you somewhere you’ve never been.” He said softly.
At first, what he said didn’t register. Then, “What do you mean?”
“Well, I’ve read on a few blogs that people do…like a babymoon, or whatever. It’s like a honeymoon, but before the baby comes.”
“I can’t fly this far along.” I didn’t want to burst his bubble, he looked so cute sitting there offering to take me somewhere before our baby arrived. “But we could go to the mountains?”
His head snapped back in my direction, “Yeah?”
I nodded and bit my lip. “Yeah.”
We talked about a few places as he searched for a place to visit. His sister called and Finn told her about our tentative plan. She squealed and I could hear her when Finn pulled the phone away from his ear. She offered to talk to her friends that just finished building a cabin in Tennessee.
No one had stayed in it yet, so we would have to pack our own linens, dining ware, everything.
“Are you sure they won’t mind?” I asked her when Finn put her on speaker.
“Oh, Ronnie! I didn’t know y’all were together. How are you feeling?”
I laughed and rubbed my swollen belly. “I’m pretty good, your brother has been an excellent baby daddy.”
Finn groaned so loud it’s a wonder he didn’t vibrate the floor. “I told you not to call me that.”
Giselle and I laughed at his expense. We’d met a few times, nothing serious, mainly in passing, but every time Finn spoke to her she asked to speak to me. She was kind, and so funny I felt like we were already friends.
“But really, go, enjoy some time in the peaceful outdoors!” Giselle said before we hung up. “They were planning on renting it out ASAP anyway.” Finn said a gentle thank you and goodbye to his sister and ended the call, turning to give me a questioning stare.
“So?” He said.
