Bellamy smiled at Aaron, then swung her head to me. “Just so you know, I’m totally taking gender bets at the door.” Aaron laughed, and pulled Bellamy up to stand beside him. Placing a gentle kiss on her temple.

Xavier burst through the doors, looking perfectly put together in his signature khakis and blue collared shirt. He’d let his dirty blond hair grow out a bit over these months, something about my belly growing and him growing his hair in solidarity.

Of course Bellamy and I couldn’t help but laugh at his antics, especially at his age. He’s the oldest out of our little friend group, and he never lets us forget it with all of his ‘wisdom’.

His hair was pulled back into a small top knot. The sides of his head, freshly shaved. I knew it because he called yesterday to complain that Bellamy scheduled him to work early, I still couldn't believe I didn't put two and two together. I should have known those two were up to something.

“Where’s the baby mama?” I heard him say over the soft music Bellamy had put on Fixin’ To I Do’s intercom system. Bellamy hooked a thumb over her shoulder in my direction before heading back toward the small kitchen in the office space.

I was suddenly glad it was a floating shower, even if most people had been here since it started. Xavier’s blue eyes connected with mine as he pushed his way through the few people blocking his path.

He stopped just shy of my legs, brushing my knees to gently haul me out of the comfy chair and into his arms. “Oh, I can’t wait to meet our newest crew member!” He practically yelled in my ear.

Penelope appeared over his shoulder, funny, I hadn’t even seen her come in. She had been coming around more recently, joining us on our game nights and dinners. She looked stunning in a pink shirt, and black pants that looked way more comfortable than what Finn insisted I wear today.

“You and me both, Xav,” I groaned. “I swear this baby only knows how to dance on my bladder lately. I’ll be right back.” I wrapped Penelope in a quick hug before waddling towards the small bathroom in the back.

I felt Finn’s presence behind me, steady and sure.

I stopped, turning to face him before going into the bathroom to empty what little I had in my bladder. His brown eyes looked sincere and his jaw was tight as if holding back tears. I lifted up on my tippy toes to brush a kiss on his lips when I felt something warm slide down my legs.

“Oh no!” I shouted in his face instead before running into the bathroom and slamming the door. “No, no, no!” I kept chanting.

I could not ruin this dress. It was a gift from Finn, and it was gorgeous.

“Ronnie!” Finn said from the other side of the door. His fists collided with the wood, but I didn’t care. Too focused on what I knew was starting to occur.

Wetness continued in a slow trail down my legs, until I sat, then a long powerful rush of water splashed into the toilet. “Oh God!”

“Ronnie! What’s wrong!” His voice was panicked, and a small part of me drew strength from that panic. Because I was sure my water just broke.

I could hear Ronnie on the other side of the door, desperately saying “no, no, no.” But she wasn’t answering me. Being this close to her due date I didn’t want to take anything lightly.

“Ronnie!” I shouted at the door. “What’s wrong?”

I slammed my palm into the door, ready to tear it down if I had to.

The fun loving, pleasure seeking, firecracker I hooked up with all those months ago? She was wild, and daring, but this Ronnie was panicked, and it made my emotions run hot.

“Get Bell!” I heard her scream through the door. Panic felt like a vice being squeezed around my heart.

“Bellamy!” I roared, uncaring of the flinching guests who had significantly grown since Ronnie and I came back here for her to pee. “Come here!”

The curly headed grump poked her head around the corner, looking none too pleased about my tone. I didn’t give one single fuck. “Ronnie needs you.”

Her narrowed eyes went round, and she bustled around me to the door. It opened enough for her thick body to get through, and slammed into my face once she got through.

“Ronnie!” I heard her all but scream. “You need a hospital!”

A hospital? I knew babies could come early, but now? We still had nine days to go, and we still hadn’t agreed on a name. It was hard to do when you didn’t even know the sex of your own baby. But Ronnie fought me tooth and nail on it, and ultimately the ultrasound tech did what she wanted anyways.

Fuck.

Was this it?

I didn’t wake up this morning expecting to become a dad. I beat on the door again as Aaron turned the corner. He must have seen my face, which I was sure looked pale as fuck.

“What's up?” He asked warily.
