The tension continued, and the air in my office felt thick, charged with the same electricity that had consumed us Saturday night. I was losing the tight grip on my control, but the way he was looking at me—like he wanted to devour me right here on my desk—was making it difficult to think straight and maintain control over anything.

"Aries," I warned, glancing toward my closed door. "We're at work."

"I know where we are," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "But that doesn't change the fact that I've been thinking about you all day. About Saturday night. About the way you felt underneath me. And I’m still waiting for an answer on if I can go home with you tonight, and repeat it all again."

My breath caught in my throat, and I felt heat pooling between my thighs. This man was going to be the death of my professional reputation.

"You can't say things like that,” I told him, trying to get ahold of my lust.

“Why not? I agreed to let you have the control, but I’m still going to speak my mind. And when you’re ready for me to take the control out of your hands, I’ll show you you can put your full trust in me and follow my lead.”

“This is all happening so fast. Shit, what exactly is happening?” I asked.

“Whatever you want to happen. I can tell you what I want to happen.”

“What’s that?”

“For you to be able to have everything you want and be the man to give it to you.”

Just the thought of having that made my heart skip a beat. I had yet to meet a man who saw me. Here was Aries, looking straight through me, accepting what he saw, and wanting me because of it. He was basically telling me that he saw my flaws as strengths, and it made me want him even more.

“Let’s get out of here,” I told Aries as I stood and collected my things.”

When I walked around my desk, Aries closed the gap between us.

“You’re going to have to let me get by so we can leave,” I told him.

He just stood there, looking down at me.

“What?” I asked, tilting my head up to look him in the eye.

Instead of answering, Aries leaned down and kissed me.

I don’t know what I expected, but the soft, sensitive touch was not what I was expecting. Saturday night was filled with so much passion, that this tender connection took me by surprise.

When Aries pulled back, he continued to stare at me without saying a word.

“Really? What?”

He let out a low chuckle. “You’re beautiful as hell, you know that?”

“That’s so random,” I told him.

“Can you just accept a compliment?”

I wanted to argue, but instead I let the feeling that I rarely experienced with men wash over me.

"Fine," I said, feeling warmth spread through my chest. "Thank you."

"There we go," he murmured, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear. "Was that so hard?"

I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't suppress the smile tugging at my lips. "Don't push it, Dr. Yerba."

He stepped aside, gesturing toward the door with an exaggerated bow. "After you, Counselor."

I grabbed my briefcase and headed for the door, hyperaware of his presence behind me. I tried to process everything that had happened between us in such a short time. Three days ago, Aries Yerba was nothing more than an arrogant surgeon who irritated the hell out of me. Now he was... what exactly? I wasn't sure I was ready to define it yet.

As we walked through the outer office, I caught Leslie's knowing look and felt my cheeks heat up. The mixture of how I felt inside, and knowing that Leslie definitely wasn’t slow, I totally knocked off my square.
