I wasted no time bounding up the stairs and through my front door. My eyes quickly scanned the living room and hall, not finding her, so I continued to the kitchen where she stood with her back toward me, washing up some dishes.
I rushed to her, throwing my arms around her.
She screamed bloody murder.
“It’s me!” I said.
She turned around and faced me. “Allison! Where the hell have you been? I was worried sick!”
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
She hugged me tight as the men rushed into the room. “I’m so glad you are finally home.”
“Me too,” I said and leaned into my sister’s embrace.
“Uh…” Cassie said as she pulled away from me. Her eyes were wide as she stared at something behind me. “Who are they?”
I turned around and smiled. “Cassie, I want to introduce you to my boyfriends.”
She settled her attention on me.
“You have four boyfriends?” she asked, there was a certain tone in her voice that was both disbelief and curiosity.
“What?” I said. “No. Just three.”
“Just?” she asked.
I chuckled and introduced each of my men to her. When it came to Jasper, I stopped. “And this is Jasper. He’s one of Calvin’s friends and a huge help.”
He waved at her then shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
“Help with what?” she asked, pulling her attention from him to me.
“I’ll tell you in a minute,” I said and leaned in closer to whisper, “I think he’s single!”
She shook her head and sighed. “You’re impossible.”
“Am I though?” I asked. I saw the way she gazed at him. And the way he looked at her.
“I’m Cassie, by the way,” she said to all of the men. “The big sister.”
I giggled. It used to annoy me that she would always say that. But since my little adventure, I found it endearing. I was so happy to be home. Happy to see my sister again.
In a way, it helped to solidify that I hadn’t hit my head and was in a hospital bed somewhere.
“Now, tell me where you have been,” Cassie demanded.
“Okay, okay,” I said then turned to the men. “Go make yourselves at home. This could take a while.”
I explained everything with as much believable detail as possible while Milo walked around the house. Jasper parked himself in front of an old family portrait and stared at it for a while. Calvin sat on the couch, snoring. Aidan dug through the kitchen cabinets and fridge and started searching for ingredients to make a meal, whistling softly as he worked. Eventually, he sighed, not finding anything.
“I still don’t believe you,” Cassie said, burying her face. “But I do at the same time.”
“Weird, I know,” I said as we sat at the small table in our kitchen.
“We’re going to need a bigger table,” she said.
I hesitated. “About that.”
