Despite appearing as though I have a charmed life, things are not always as they seem. I’m still grieving the loss of my brother and his lifelong best friend’s betrayal. Throw in some vindictive basketball opponents and an overzealous fan, and I feel like I’m constantly on edge.
Did I mention that my brother’s best friend is Vance McCaffrey, the star quarterback for the Philly Camels? I don’t want to see Vance; he brings back too many painful memories, but, much to my dismay, he keeps popping up in my world. I can’t even look at his deceitful face.
Okay, maybe I had a teeny crush on him when I was younger, but that’s in the past. I refuse to let his gorgeous face, bulging muscles, and pull-worthy wavy hair cloud my judgment. Vance McCaffrey is completely off-limits. He betrayed my brother and broke my entire family’s heart with his duplicity. Not to mention, the man is clearly keeping secrets.
